Speed Week : Canceled for 2022
"Due to unforeseen weather conditions, Speed Week 2022 is officially canceled." That was the statement posted on Sunday, August 7, to the Facebook page of the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA). Racing on the Salt Flats was scheduled to start on August 6, though many teams have been at the Salt Flats for tech inspection, which started August 4. Rain on Friday caused Saturday's competition to be canceled because not enough of the moisture had evaporated to attempt racing on Saturday, and then more rain rolled in, causing significant flooding.
