Move Windows Up or Down Smoothly

Car manufacturers such as Volkswagen have been searching for more ways to provide consumers with the most convenient and user-friendly car parts and accessories. Making everything done in just a few clicks has been the trend among vehicles. One example is the innovation for car windows. Gone are the days when car windows had to be cranked up or down by hand. Drivers and passengers do not need to exert much effort to roll down the window lever. With just a push of a button, opening or shutting windows is easy.

How do Volkswagen Beetle power windows work? The process of moving a window up or down can be summed up in two steps. When the window switch is pressed, a gear rotates to push the window up or down. A circular gear with teeth called the spur gear rotates to push the long-handled worm gear. The two gears are able to coordinate movements because both are equipped with complementary gear teeth that move together. When the up or down button is pressed, the gear rotates to push a window upward or downward. Raising or lowering a window is impossible without a Volkswagen Beetle window switch.

A Volkswagen Beetle window switch for power windows is located at each side of the car doors. Oftentimes, the driver side’s car door has five window switches: three to access the other car windows, one for the driver’s window, and an auto switch that automatically moves the driver’s window up or down when pressed. There are three types of Volkswagen Beetle window switch: the rocker switch, the toggle switch, and the lever switch. Rocker switches work like push button devices—one simply has to push a button to lift a window. Toggle switches need to be pushed forward or backward to move the window up or down. Lever switches are quite complicated to use but these are highly recommended for traveling with children. Lever switches are the safest type of window switch as it lessens the risk of a child accidentally pressing the window switch.

Automated systems like the Volkswagen Beetle power windows may seem powerful, but this mechanism can give in to wear and tear. Dust and moisture can cause the malfunction of the window switch. When this happens, a replacement is necessary.
